Elise Jernigan, Nicaragua Summer Youth Facilitator, 2010

Elise Jernigan is a third year teacher in Inglewood, California. Elise holds a Master of Education with a focus on literacy and language arts from Loyola Marymount University, and a Bachelor degree from the College of William and Mary where she studied government and history.
In the past she has taught first and third grade, but is currently loving her position at a middle school as a sixth grade teacher. Her current favorite subjects in the classroom are geometry, and writing persuasive essays. Elise is very excited to be working with the talented group of high school students that have committed themselves to Global Potential this year and a half.
Elise’s interests outside of the classroom include soccer, arts and crafts, playing the guitar, studying Spanish, and learning about other cultures. Elise is currently enjoying coaching her middle school’s girls’ soccer team, and hopes to lead them to a championship season. GO MARINERS!
