Jordan Capik, School and Youth Program Coordinator, Summer Youth Facilitator Dominican Republic (2010)

Jordan Capik joined GP Boston in January 2010, as the program launched its first year. Jordan graduated in May 2010 from Northeastern University in Boston, MA with an undergraduate degree in Spanish and Secondary Education and a Graduate degree in the Art of Teaching. She is originally from New Jersey and although she is a “gringa”, she considers herself Dominican at heart. She currently teaches Spanish for Native Speakers at the Kennedy Academy for Health Careers in Boston. She adores her job and her students, and still cannot believe that she gets to participate in this life-changing project with them.
Her previous experience includes mentoring and tutoring at various after school and summer programs in Boston, as well as teaching English and Gym (that’s right!) at public and private institutions in Santiago, Dominican Republic. In her spare time you can find her eating maduros and queso frito, dancing Bachata, and reading. She is very dedicated to the mission of Global Potential and had a transformative experience leading and facilitating the youth program during the summer of 2010 in Batey 7, Dominican Republic.
