When I was fifteen years old, I moved to New York from Dominican Republic. I finished my high school education at Adlai E. Stevenson High School in the Bronx, New York. I obtained my Bachelor degree in psychology from the University of Stony Brook. While obtaining my bachelor degree, I did an internship at Developmental Disability Institute for children with Autism. I also joined the Family Translational Research Group in the Psychology Department at Stony Brook as a research assistant. In 2004, I started to work in a non-profit organization by the name Weston United Community Renewal, Inc. at one of their program, which was Casita Unida (United House). I started as the clerical coordinator and eventually moved to the Intake Coordinator position. In 2006 I started my Master degree at Hunter College School of Social Work. In 2007 I participated in the New York City homeless census as a volunteer. While achieving my master degree, I did my internship at the Assessment Community Treatment (ACT Team) in Weston United Community Renewal, Inc. In 2009, I graduated from Hunter College School of Social Work. In the same year, I was working at their Transitional Living Community, which was a shelter for single adults with Mental Illness and Substance Abuse. In October 2010, I started to work at Metropolitan Hospital Center’s Child & Adolescent Psychiatric Department OPD. I work with children from ages 7-18, who suffer from a variety of mental illnesses. I provide individual and family psychotherapy, as well as group therapy for boys and girls, among others duties. My first language is Spanish, and I speak English fluently.
